Medieval Knights
Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 12:25PM In Story of the World (vol. 2), our chidlren are studying Medieval knights. The focus today was on the process of becoming a knight. Instead of the traditional narration activity, our frst grader, Ellie, wanted to create a digital poster expressing what she had learned. With minimal help, she was able to work on this by herself. (Note: I did assist with typing.) What a great way to assess comprehension while developing technology skills!

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 3:39PM We are exploring the Kingdom of the Franks and the life of Charlemagne. Our daughter's assignment today was to write a summary about the life of Charlemagne and place it in her folder. Well, I was very excited to see she went a step further. Check out her digital poster on his life.

She is really excited about this new technology tool and it has really brought life to our history class. Our other two children have decided they would like to take part in the next digital creation. She spent the afternoon reading various articles on Charlemagne as well as other tidbits of Medieval History. What would have been a dry lesson turned into an afternoon of student-centered learning. I don't think I could have asked for anything more.
